What is Constellara?

The stars of the Constellara Cluster are as varied as they are beautiful. Harsh desert planets that wear down sanity and civilization, oceanic worlds teeming with life and roiled by storms, tropical worlds of unfathomable diversity, metropolitan planets of unmatched wealth and prestige, and frozen tundra planets home only to scant, isolated outposts.

Some virgin worlds have never been touched by mortal civilization, while others have histories stretching back millennia. Some are peaceful centers of trade, others have known only war and strife. Some are ruled by tyrannical despots, others are bastions of democracy and enlightenment. On some planets, technology is hoarded as a means of control. On others it might be ubiquitous, or completely unknown.

But one factor unites them all: the Stellar Pathways. Once per year when the stars align, ancient cosmic gateways open up between the worlds of the Cluster, briefly allowing for travel, trade, and conflict. The origin of these Pathways is a mystery, but the Star Sages who study them surmise they may have been built by an ancient, now extinct species. If not for the Pathways, the stars of the Cluster would have no knowledge of each other and no way to communicate.
